Anthony is a patient Driving Instructor who is generous with his time and attention. He is chatty, honest and always happy to talk through any questions you have, going at your pace, and never getting frustrated.

I was learning to drive for ten months before passing my test. My driving experience was truly a roller-coaster, but Anthony was kind and understanding about my circumstances and time pressures.

Driving Tuition Charges

Your driving lesson prices are reached after looking at the running costs of the vehicle you will be taking your tuition in. The running cost includes the general wear and tear of the vehicle and other things like road tax, insurance and of course fuel. The other main cost is the time taken by the driving instructor that will be taking the driving lesson. Booking driving lessons with Skill4life Driver Training could turn out to be one of the best decisions you could make.

£33.00/Hour*

A Sixty (60) Minute Driving Lesson, with a pick up collection point to suit both parties concerned.

Drop off, is Subject to Geographical Location, but is not limited to initial Collection point.

The duration of the lesson, commences from pick up point, and time taken to finish off at drop off point. The Driving lesson itself, is conducted within the hour.

Driving lessons are no less than One Hour, but are not limited to a Sixty Minute Session. Extra lesson time, is subject to availability.

How Many Lessons Will I Need?

One of the most common questions we get at Skill4Life Driver Training is:

"How many driving lessons will i need before i'm ready for my test?"

While everyone learns at a different pace, national data gives us a solid starting point.

DVSA Guidelines

According to the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA), the average learner in the UK requires:

> 45 hours of professional driving lessons

> PLUS 22 hours of private practice (e.g., with a parent or family member in a suitable car)

This means most learners reach test standard after around 40 to 50 hours of formal instruction. Hence why we offer Block Booking Discounts of up to 50 hours.

But it Depends on You

The actual number of lessons you'll need can vary depending on:

> Your confidence and past experience (e.g., cycling, moped riding)

> How frequently you take lessons (once a week vs. intensive)

> How much private practice you get between lessons

> Whether you're learning in a manual or automatic

> Your ability to retain and apply what you've learned

Bottom Line

Most of our learners pass with between 35 and 50 hours of tuition, often less with regular practice or intensive sessions.

You can also speed things up by:

> Taking 2-hour sessions instead of 1-hour

> Booking block lessons for consistency

> Practicing outside lessons (with correct insurance & supervision)

Learn in Your Own Car

At Skill4Life Driver Training, we offer the flexibility for you to learn to drive in your own car, whether you're preparing for your test or building confidence in a familiar environment.

This option is ideal for:

> Learners with access to a private vehicle they'll drive post-test

> Nervous drivers who feel more at ease in their own space

> Test-ready candidates polishing-up sessions in their personal car.

What's Required

To use your own car for driving lessons or your practical test, it must:

> Be roadworthy and fully insured for learner use

> Display L-plates (front and rear)

> Have an additional interior rear-view mirror for the instructor

> Be taxed and MOT'd

> Have working seatbelts, tyres, and no dashboard warning lights

Cars Not Allowed for DVSA Tests

The DVSA will not permit certain makes and models for use on the practical driving test due to rear visibility issues or safety limitations.

These typically include:

> Mini Convertible

> BMW Mini with a panoramic roof

> Toyota iQ

> Smart Fortwo

> Ford KA (older Models)

> Certain vans or heavily modified vehicles

Auto Lesson Availability

Anthony:

Pupil Vehicle Availability

Driving lessons conducted in a pupil's vehicle, can be conducted between our normal hours of tuition.

Introductory lessons are conducted between 9am and 6pm.

Introductory offers are available to provisional licence holders only and apply exclusively to pupils who are absolute beginners or partly trained, and who do not already have a practical driving test booked. Pay-As-You-Go (PAYG) lessons must be paid for in advance. Block bookings are non-refundable. All lesson amendments are subject to availability and our full Terms of Business. Standard lesson hours are Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 6:00pm. Lessons scheduled before 9:00am or after 6:00pm Monday to Friday, and before 9:00am on Saturdays, will incur an additional charge of £10.00 per hour.
